During World War 2, our Dad was stationed at Fort Shafter in Hawaii shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was a radio operator in the Army to help make sure that such an attack never happened again. After he died in 2014 at the age of 92, my sister and I inherited a tin container full of rolls of film. We discovered they were pictures he had taken while he was stationed in Hawaii, but at the time, he didn’t have the money to have prints made of all of them. I have been busy converting the negatives into photos, which number in the hundreds!
We would like to share the photos with others. Before we do, we would like to identify as many people in the photos as possible, who obviously meant a great deal to Dad. Unfortunately, Dad's notes about the negatives are scant. We are hoping that if enough people see the photos, many of them will recognize their grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, aunt, uncle, or some other relative or friend.
We are asking for your help to identify the people in the photos. The photos include veterans, civilian workers, performers and children, which you can scroll through at your own pace. Some people appear more than once. If you recognize any of the faces in the PACIFIC VETERANS PHOTOS (click on the link at the top of this page), please note the number of the photo and send identifying information to:
